Lana is native to Louisiana, but Mississippi has always been her second home. She had a love for beautiful things from a very early age and began pursuing her passion with event planning and designing in her teens. She attended Southern Arkansas University on an English and French scholarship but soon realized her love was for interior design. She received her design degree from the New York Institute of Art & Design (formerly Sheffield). Soon after graduating she opened her first business. Most of her career has been self employed, but she is thrilled to now be part of the exclusive team of SummerHouse.
With 21 years of experience, Lana has learned many things throughout her career. She believes if you stop learning, you should stop working! Her design philosophy is, “You shouldn’t just like something. You should love it!” Your home should be a reflection of who you and your family are, and not just a reflection of a design showroom. Lana works closely with each client trying to define their aesthetic and the function of their spaces. Her goal is to make her clients’ spaces into extensions of their style, not her own. She enjoys every aspect of design, from the foundation all the way to hanging the last piece of art on the walls. She loves being involved from the very beginning if possible because sometimes a designer can catch something small on a plan that a builder may not notice because he isn’t arranging furniture in that room.
Lana’s projects span a variety of styles. She has worked on deer camps, churches, restaurants, stores, cottages, beach houses, mid century homes, tuscan and french style homes, and more. She’s worked on projects across the country, including Texas, Arkansas, Louisiana, Oklahoma, Mississippi, Florida and South Carolina to name a few. She doesn’t feel a project is ever too large or too small. And she feels that good customer service is the absolute basis for any great design relationship.
On a personal level, Lana enjoys spending time traveling, reading, and going to movies. She loves to visit art galleries and eat good food! She’s been the mom to 3 cats and 1 Welsh Terrier over the years but is currently (and sadly) petless. But she knows the right one will come along. They always do! She also is thrilled to be living close to her family for the first time in several years. Family is everything! Lana’s guilty pleasure is german chocolate pie.
